In collaboration with a local congregation, Life Mission conducted an evangelism initiative in 2019 among the Roma in Vranje, southern Serbia. Among other activities, an outreach campaign meeting was organized where about 100 people received Jesus, and many were filled with the Holy Spirit during the other meetings that were held.
A year later, it was decided to begin supporting Avdija Jasarevic, a pioneer and congregation leader, to enable him to fully devote himself to the ministry of the Word and prayer. Since then, Life Mission has also sent several teams to encourage the local believers through testimonies, preaching, and teaching.
In the years that followed, there has been a significant wave of baptisms in the area, even though the pandemic caused some interruptions. Despite these challenges, regular mass baptisms have continued. As recently as October this year, over 30 people were baptized into Christ, and the year before, 38 people were baptized. In total, more than 130 people have been baptized into Christ since Life Mission began supporting the work.
Marcus Ringbäck, leader of Life Mission, comments: “It is a testament to our strategy of supporting local missionaries that it yields results. By supporting Avdija Jasarevic, we have created the conditions for him to do what he does best: win people for God and train disciples. And we must never forget that behind every baptism is a story of a transformed life.”
