Kristoffer Berg, one of Life Mission’s evangelists, has made two trips to Africa this year. In January, he traveled to Kenya and Tanzania, and a few weeks ago, he returned from another trip to Kenya. About seventy people have received Jesus, and several have been healed from various illnesses. Below, Kristoffer also talks about a need he learned about while visiting a Maasai village.
Dear Mission Friend! In January, I had the privilege of visiting a Maasai village in Tanzania.
When my friend Moses and I were in the city of Morogoro, we met some Maasai people. After talking for a while, they invited us to visit their village. A couple of days later, we traveled to the village of Sangasanga, first by bus and then by motorcycle.
After they told us about their lives and traditions, I learned that I was the first “mzungu” (white man) to ever visit the village, which made me feel especially honored.
Join us in helping an entire village gain access to clean water!
Afterward, they shared their needs with us, and although their standard of living is far from what we expect back home in Sweden, the needs were numerous. The greatest need was access to clean water. Today, they walk several kilometers to collect water in jugs from a river. This water is contaminated, partly because it flows through a nearby city, and it’s also dangerous because there are crocodiles in the area.
Since my visit, there has been flooding this spring, which has resulted in the water being more contaminated than usual. Several children have fallen ill because of this.
After returning home, Moses and I explored the possibility of drilling for water, and we now have a local company that can handle the drilling and everything related to it. Electricity is needed for the pump, which can be best provided by solar panels. The total cost for this project is approximately ten thousand USD.
This would mean that an entire village of over 1,000 inhabitants would have access to clean water. So my question to you is: Would you like to contribute?
